Excursion tip in Skåne - Hagestad nature reserve

Are you thinking of taking an excursion by the sea this weekend? Then Hagestad is a perfect alternative.

Hagestad is a 375-hectare nature reserve in Ystad municipality. In the area, there are different types of nature to explore, such as dunes, sandy beaches, low-growing oak forests, pine forests, and open heathlands.

Most impressive is probably the large sand dune areas, whose dunes can be over ten meters high.

Inland, oak shrubland grows, which is a forest that is low-growing. The forest offers special values that many insect species appreciate. From July to August, the protected orchid broad-leaved helleborine blooms in the forest area. Other beautiful protected plants that occur in the reserve are pasqueflower, small pasqueflower, st Bernard's lily, and dianthus superbus.

Hagestad has a rich birdlife that offers many surprises. If you are lucky, you can see migratory birds such as eurasian hoopoe, greenish warbler, red-breasted flycatcher, eurasian nightjar, eurasian golden oriole, and turtle dove.

The Skåneleden trail (SL4 Österlen, stages 2 and 3) runs through the reserve.

We at Treefling think it is important to spend time in nature, take care of our beautiful nature and treat yourself to a pleasant excursion in the beautiful nature reserve.
