Synthetic fragrances are petrochemically produced and contain high levels of volatile organic compounds that adversely affect our atmosphere and air quality. Volatile organic compounds are chemical vapors that contain carbon molecules that evaporate easily. According to a study, the volatile organic compounds released into the atmosphere by petrochemical products are about as high as from fuel, despite the fact that the fuel industry consumes fifteen times more crude oil.
